Tony's thoughts on Week 7
Lots of good song choices made tonight! Though I should say that just because I enjoyed a song doesn’t mean I’ll give the dance a 10! Haha! Onto the thoughts!

ALI & VAL
Waltz – Well I have to say, I think Ali’s beginning to look like a real dancer with this one. I love the song, and I think she would be really at home with a dance like that. She may not be the most technical dancer, but this Waltz was pretty good!
Rumba – Another dance that I feel like Ali would really be at home with, and she did a very good  job, I think! A really neat song choice as well! Almost perfect! I think her hips might have been a bit stiff, but definitely Ali’s best dance!

MARK & KYM

Waltz – There’s something about Mark and the Waltz that just don’t mix in my brain. I see him  muscling through a dance like this. And while his Foxtrot from the beginning  might have had the same feel in terms of fluidity, I don’t see that translating to the Waltz.
Paso Doble – Well I  think this might have been the dance of the season! I really, really enjoyed this one from Mark! I think he would have be good with the Paso, but there might have been some worries about him being too much, but I didn’t picture that at all! Great dance!

USHER & KARINA
Quickstep – Well I really do enjoy this song, and I think Usher is FINALLY turning into the dancer I knew he could be! I didn’t realize it until now, but I think I was actually worried for Usher to do the Quickstep! Clearly, there was nothing to worry about!
Jive – Well another dance that I thought was really a lot of fun! I guess I just thought Usher was perfect tonight! Not much more to say about him!

GERARD & NATALIE
Cha-Cha-Cha – A bit of an off dance for Gerard, I think. The song worked for a Cha-Cha, but I just  feel like it might have worked against him in some odd way. Hopefully Gerard will come back next week and wow us with his next Latin dance!
Jive – Well, I guess I was the only one that thought this dance was kind of a comeback from his Cha-Cha! Haha!  Again, this is another song that I really enjoy, so it might have been that that was working for him. But I do think he could have pulled off a good Jive!

KIELY & HENRY

Foxtrot – Surprise, surprise! Another song I love! I feel like this song really works for the Foxtrot, and I think it really worked for Kiely and Henry to work some story telling magic! Second best Foxtrot of the season!
Quickstep – While being saddled with two ballroom dances might not have been a desired outcome for Kiely, I think she worked through this Quickstep with some class and elegance! I think the song is another excellent story telling song, but with the Quickstep and Foxtrot being so similar, I think that might have tripped her up a little.

JOSH & LACEY

Tango – I’m not really sure what it was about this dance that made me not like it as much as the  other dances tonight. I guess I still can’t see Josh being a very technical dancer, and I guess I just picture this dance being riddled with mistakes.
Samba – Well I’m happy to say that Josh made up for his Tango with this Samba! It was a lot of fun, the song was great, and I just picture him and Lacey really having a blast and nailing this Samba!

CARRIE & DEREK

Quickstep – Classy, classy, classy! That’s all I have to say about this one! Finally, Carrie had another breakout, and this time it earned her some 10s! I knew she had them in her, I was just wondering when they might show up! I think the best dance from the Ballroom round, no doubt!
Rumba – Well, not as good as her Quickstep, but still good nevertheless. I think Carrie could have the potential to have the same problem Ali has in terms of hips, but I still think she’d be a very technical dancer, and at least have
that going for  her with this Rumba!
