Tony's thoughts on Story Week!
Well, Story Night did not disappoint! Overall, I was very impressed! Everyone seemed to really step it up. But not everyone, unfortunately.

JOSH & LACEY
I think the story was pretty good for Josh and Lacey to portray. However, I’m not getting a big
“wow” factor from Josh yet. I still think he’s getting the votes, but his scores are going to take a big hit if he can’t step it up. But he seems like a hard worker, so I think he can.

DAVID & ALIONA
David’s still holding on, it seems! I would think that going into week 4, and despite the fact that there aren’t going to be scores next week, David could really have a shot to impress. He would  still have a lot of work, but I think he could do it if he works hard, just like  Josh.

MARK & KYM
Okay, I know I’ve been raving about Mark the past two weeks,  and I think he could be an amazing dancer. I just wasn’t too impressed with this Rumba for some reason. He definitely could portray the right emotions for the story, but there was just something lacking from Mark this week. But I know he’ll come back  fighting next week!

GERARD & NATALIE
Like Mark, I think there might have been something missing from this performance. I liked the story for the dance, but part of me feels like Gerard could have lost some control during the dance, and his hold would suffer because of that. But like the three men before him, he can  only do better next week!

CARRIE & DEREK
I was surprised by these two this week! I think Carrie could have really gotten into character a little easier this week, what with the mood of this particular dance. Gone are the 7s for Carrie! I think it’s 8s, 9s, and maybe even 10s from here on out! I would definitely label this dance as Carrie’s “Breakout Dance!”

USHER & KARINA
Ballroom and Usher don’t mesh that well to me. Haha! But he’s got Karina, and she can work wonders for someone like  Usher. He’s only done two ballroom  dances, and this one is obviously his better ballroom, and while I do think future ballroom will give him some problems, I think he’ll take what he learned  for this dance, and only build on it. The dance itself wasn’t bad either!

ERIN & TONY
Another improvement tonight! I think that this story was one of the more serious, for sure, and I  think it might have worked to Erin’s advantage. She wouldn’t have to worry about being passionate with Tony. And I think that she could have portrayed the  feeling of pain a little better with this dance. Big things are in store for her if she makes  it to next week!

LANE & LINDSAY
Like I said, there were a lot of improvements, and Lane was not excluded from this group! I definitely think Lane could be a contender after this! I think part of what helped with Lane’s improvement is his connection to the story. I think his homage to his mother was sweet, and he definitely would have  wanted to get this dance right for her!

TERRY & CHERYL

Here’s where things get a little messy. I think that due to the heavy mentioning of  alcohol in the song, the story had to be censored a lot (this is a family oriented game after all). Unfortunately, the song ended up working against Terry, I think. And I don’t think he would have been able to  master the samba as well as anyone would have wanted. I pictured this dance just being a big mess.

NICOLE & MAKS
I think Nicole probably could be improving in terms of her performances. Granted, the story required that cold character I think of when I think of Nicole, but it worked in  her favor this week. She’s still not the  greatest dancer, but after a trip to the bottom, it makes me wonder if this dance was good enough to get her to next week. (this was written before Nicole's withdrawal)

SIGOURNEY & TRISTAN
Easily, without a doubt, the best story of the night. Sigourney definitely had a huge breakthrough with this dance! Very emotional, very passionate, a winner for Sigourney and Tristan this week! Not very technical, but an emotional dance nevertheless.

KIELY & HENRY
Kiely and the Paso don’t work out very well in my head, so I’m glad she got this one out of the way! I think the story these two did was very fun too, and the Paso would be a perfect dance to portray such a story. I think she’s beginning to improve, and show us that she’s going to be a force to reckon with in a few weeks!

GUGU & MARK
I think this story was unique, for sure. The song gave them that ominous, almost ethereal feel to the dance and story. And Gugu is also showing us, like Kiely, she’s not to be forgotten either! Definitely my favorite dance of  hers!

ALI & VAL

Our Bachelorette is still getting out of her shell, but I would think she’s still got a case of the jitters. Ballroom is definitely her forte here, and  it’s showing for sure! These last three women of the night are proving to be some serious dark horses. Also, I would think this is when Ali realizes she wants to go all the way! And I do think she’s going to go far, especially after this foxtrot!
