Tony's thoughts on Week 2
Wow!  I think I saw some different dancers from last week, this week! I’m so proud of everyone that improved! Like I said last week, this will be an exciting season!!

KIELY & HENRY
It’s only Week 2, so going first is still kind of a big deal.  I have to admit: I think my expectations for Kiely kind of bit me in the butt. I was expecting a knock out Jive from her! I think she might have gotten a little nervous, but I know she can only improve from here on out!

USHER & KARINA
Definitely an improvement for Usher! Doing the samba in just Week 2 is no easy task, but I think Usher was pretty close to KILLING this Samba! I think this is the contender in him coming out! I hope he dances like that again, because he deserves to stick around!

ALI & VAL
Wow.  All I can say about these two is WOW! Such a HUGE improvement from last week!  I really hope Ali’s getting the support she deserves, because that Quickstep was phenomenal! Let’s hope Ali can help Val break the Winner’s Curse of only sticking around a week or two after winning the previous season! I want to see more of these two!

JOHN & ANNA
A bit of a rough week from John, but I didn’t see much of an improvement from last week. I imagined the same basic choreography from Week 1. Granted, it’s no fault of either his or Anna’s.
They’re a tad limited, but I do think John once again gave it his all.  However, it might not be enough to get to next week, I’m afraid.

CINDY & LOUIS
Well, I got something fast instead of something slow this week. The song was slow enough for Cindy, I think. But that slowness of the dance and song worked for and against her. It resulted what I can only imagine as some pretty safe movements, and some less than stellar choreography.

SIGOURNEY & TRISTAN
A bit of an improvement this week! I was a bit skeptical of her abilities to pull of a Quickstep, but I think she did it enough justice to stick around! Ballroom will definitely be Sigourney’s forte, so if she can get through this week, she might just make it further than I gave her credit for!

DONALD & PETA
Really not much to say about these two. I still don’t think Donald would be giving it all he’s got.
Plus, I can picture him just perfectly clomping around the floor, trying to lead Peta, but really, she’d be leading him.  If these two are safe, then he’s in for a rough time next week.

DAVID & ALIONA
Definitely an improvement for David! I do think he’d still look a little awkward on the dance floor, but at least he’s willing to give it all he’s got!  I think David could really be Mr. Charisma this season.  If he can embrace each dance he gets with 110% enthusiasm, he could definitely make it far!

MARK & KYM
I said it last week, and I’ll say it again:  I don’t think there’s anything Mark won’t be able to do. He’s got a winning partner in Kym, and she I don’t see her disappointing on the choreography.  Definitely the best dance of the night, for me!

GUGU & MARK

Hmm. There was something about this that didn’t just work in my mind.  I think the Tango could have been an awesome dance for Gugu, but I don’t think it could have been as good as I wanted it to be. And I think the song seemed a bit odd for her to be dancing too. But it’s still early, and I’m sure she’s safe!

JOSH & LACEY
I got the same feeling from Josh & Lacey as John & Anna.  I think this could have been good, but at about the same level from last week. I would think that if Josh and Lacey want to stick around, they’d definitely need to kick it up a notch and really blow us away with a story next week!

CARRIE & DEREK
I’m glad Carrie got the Samba out of the way early, because if she didn’t, it could really have hurt her later on.  It was a good effort, but I think Carrie would have had some problems with the sexiness of the Samba, as well as her hip action. I’m pretty sure she’ll be back next week, so I hope we get to see something better!

NICOLE & MAKSIM
I definitely think Nicole improved, even if it was just a little bit.  I still think she was a bit cold in delivery, but I think she definitely enjoyed the dance a bit more than the Foxtrot.  It’s up in the air, for me, as to whether or not she’ll be back next week.

LANE & LINDSAY
Just a bit of a step backward this week. Not a big step, but a little step. I think there were more mistakes than I would have liked, but Lane pulled off the Quickstep regardless! I have a sneaking suspicion he’ll be safe, so he’ll need to turn on his acting skills for Story Night next week!

TERRY & CHERYL

As per the trend tonight, Terry had a bit of an improvement this week.  I the ballroom dances with very strict rules will help Terry in the long run when it comes to that “wild and crazy” dancing image I get when I think about him.  Haha! But I think as far as entertainment, he definitely delivers.

GERARD & NATALIE

Gerard is in the same boat as Carrie. I’m glad he got this dance out of the way early as well. Better to get the lower score in the beginning weeks where you can still be safe and improve the next week than say, the Semifinals, where the simplest of mistakes can send you packing. But I do think Gerard can improve, and I think he will next week.

ERIN & TONY

Well it was a nice little way to end the show, for sure!  I do think Erin is going to be one of the stragglers in the coming weeks. I hope she can improve, because everyone seems to love her! The jive wasn’t bad. I was actually kind of impressed with how well she pulled it off! So good job Erin!
